Website coming soon02 - Who we are
For nearly six decades our operating companies have made, moved, and supplied the doors, hardware, and materials that turn drawings into buildings - quietly, reliably, and at scale.
From our base in Saskatoon, we've grown into a network of regional leaders serving multi-family, commercial, industrial, and residential construction across western Canada.
Today, that means seven operating brands, more than fourteen locations, and three generations of family ownership still investing in what’s next.
We’re an owner-operated group - not a private-equity rollup. Long horizons, real accountability, decisions made by people whose names are on the wall.

However, I have had so many tremendous opportunities to change and grow, both personally and professionally. Seeing projects that I have helped design, quote and manage come to completion has become some of my greatest accomplishments.

Western Investor featured the group’s new Edmonton facility in its look at the strength of the city’s industrial market, “Doors open for Edmonton industrial as investors favour fundamentals.”
The article points to Edmonton’s surging population and homebuilding as drivers of industrial demand, and highlights the 118,000 sq ft manufacturing and distribution facility in Strathcona County - opened in April on five acres inside Anthony Henday Drive - noting the increased space “enables higher production volumes, more streamlined workflows, and the ability to support broader and more complex product programs.”

Security Building Supplies - part of the West Four Group of Companies - is proud to be named an Official Partner of the Saskatchewan Roughriders for the 2026/27 season and beyond.
The partnership puts one of Saskatchewan’s original building-supply names beside the province’s most beloved team - including the naming of Security Building Supplies Riderland Park, a gathering place for Rider Nation on game day.
In the trade since 1968, Security Building Supplies has served Saskatchewan builders from its Saskatoon and Regina locations for nearly six decades. Partnering with the Roughriders is a natural fit: the same customers, communities, and families who build this province are the ones who fill the stands.
Security Building Supplies Riderland Park is already open and welcoming Rider Nation before every home game - with a growing lineup of fan and customer experiences to come as the partnership takes the field.
Build Manitoba, the Winnipeg Construction Association’s quarterly magazine, featured Penner Doors & Hardware in its Member Milestones section: “Open Door Policy - Four decades of opening doors and building lasting relationships across the Prairies.”
The two-page feature traces Penner from Henry Penner’s 1986 start in Winnipeg to today’s five locations across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, and to its place within the West Four Group of Companies. CEO Lynne Fafard describes what family ownership means in practice - “valuing people over transactions, relationships over shortcuts and trust over trends” - and credits the original Winnipeg team, several of whom have been with Penner for 25 to 40 years, with setting the template for the brand’s growth across western Canada.
The article also covers Penner’s Division 8 and 10 product range, its estimating and project-management services, the new Penner DesignBuild consulting group, and a selection of recent projects including Manitoba Hydro’s converter stations and the Stoney CNG Bus Storage and Transit Facility in Calgary.

The Constructor 2026, the Calgary Construction Association’s annual publication, marks Penner Doors & Hardware’s 40th anniversary in its Milestones section alongside Armour Equipment, RGO, and Ferguson.
The profile follows Penner from a single Winnipeg operation in 1986 to five locations in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg, and sets out the values the company credits for the journey: family ownership, Canadian-made and Canadian-rooted products, and long-term relationships with customers, partners, and the trade associations it serves. Penner frames the milestone not as a finish line but as a beginning, with a commitment to continued growth and community involvement.

West Four Group of Companies has opened a new 118,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility in Edmonton - a significant investment in the capacity, infrastructure, and scalability of our operations across western Canada.
Designed for efficiency from fabrication through fulfillment, the new site significantly expands both our manufacturing footprint and warehouse capacity. The layout is purposefully designed to improve workflow at every stage, while its strategic location offers improved access to major transportation corridors - strengthening our ability to reliably serve partners and projects across the region.
As we mark nearly six decades in the industry, this expansion represents more than a new building. It reflects a deliberate step forward in how we operate, and a clear signal of where we’re going: built for the next generation of projects, partners, and people.
West Four Group of Companies - parent company to West Four Distribution, Madero, Penner Doors and Hardware, Security Building Supplies, and Two Six Creative - has acquired WSI Doors Ltd., Dorland Doors Ltd., and More Than Doors Ltd., effective July 1, 2022.
WSI specializes in hollow metal, commercial hardware, and interior and exterior wood and steel doors, serving lumberyards, glass shops, and commercial customers across western Canada. Dorland Doors, its sister company, manufactures architectural aluminum entry systems, fixed windows, and curtain walls - adding more than three decades of architectural expertise to the West Four portfolio. Together they operate a joint 80,000-square-foot facility in Edmonton with an automated paint line, contributing meaningful manufacturing capacity across our brands.
More Than Doors - an online commercial door store providing onsite service and installation throughout northern Alberta - joins the group at the same time.
The three companies will continue to operate as before while we complete an operational review and plan a seamless integration. Effective immediately, the distribution lines of Larson, Renin, Schlage, Allegion, Assa Abloy, and others are available through WSI.

West Four Group of Companies adopted in-house colour labelling to modernize how doors, frames, and building specialties move through manufacturing and distribution across our brands.
The new workflow - built around the Epson ColorWorks C7500G inkjet printer and CYBRA’s MarkMagic® bar code, RFID, and forms software - produces full-colour product labels on demand, integrating directly with the systems our teams use every day. The result is faster turnaround, fewer errors, and clearer information travelling with every product we ship.
“Our focus is on quality,” says Lynne Fafard, CEO of West Four Group of Companies. “We want to make sure the products we release into the market are top notch. It’s what our customers demand and expect.”

Lynne Fafard, CEO of West Four Group of Companies, was named to Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women by Financial Post.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Lynne earned a degree in commerce and business administration at the University of Alberta before joining the family business - founded by her father in 1968 - in a marketing role. She stepped away for sixteen years to raise her family, returning in 1996. In 2004, Lynne and her husband Ken purchased the company from her father and siblings, eventually forming the group that today operates as West Four.
Since 2006, the group has grown nearly 250% and now works with vendors around the world. Both of Lynne’s sons are now part of the business.
“We try hard to keep the sense of family,” Lynne says, “and we are not afraid of doing whatever it takes to help things move forward.”

Penner Doors & Hardware - part of the West Four Group of Companies - announced a major expansion in 2011, anchored by a new 40,000-square-foot assembly and distribution centre in Winnipeg, nearly triple the size of its existing facility.
The expansion also included new distribution centres in Saskatoon and Calgary, supporting Penner’s growing role in commercial and multi-family construction across the Prairies. The Winnipeg site, located in St. Boniface Industrial Park for its proximity to the Perimeter Highway, was purpose-built to support the volume and complexity of projects coming online during the regional construction boom of the early 2010s.
Founded in Winnipeg in 1986 and acquired by West Four in 2009, Penner Doors specializes in fire-rated doors, hollow metal doors, steel frames, locksets, weatherstripping, electronic hardware, and security-door systems - stocking more than 1,500 products and serving office buildings, hotels, hospitals, fire halls, and institutional projects.
The 2011 expansion was an early signal of what would become a defining strategy for West Four: investing in capacity ahead of demand, and building infrastructure that’s ready for the next decade of construction across western Canada.
